Assam Government To be held TET In September 2019
The education department of Assam has decided to conduct fresh Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) level tentatively on September 22 or 29, 2019. A meeting of the Empowered Committee, Elementary TET was held on March 20, 2019 to discuss the matter relating to carry out a new TET. The validity of TET certificate of TET held on 2012 which has already expired and other related issues.
During the meeting, it was decided that as the validity of Teacher Eligibility Test is only for seven years as per National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) norms has already expired since the last TET was conducted on 2012 followed by a few special TETs. As such, a proposal was sent to NCTE for extension of the validity of TET pass certificate upto March 31, 2020. The tentative date for the new TET examination is decided to be September 22 or 29 and will be conducted for the LP and UP level in the State of Assam. Moreover, the question papers will be printed in five mediums: Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Bodo and English. As a third party may be engaged, the mode of submission and receipt of application will be online.

It may be mentioned that more than 36,500 posts of teachers are lying vacant in the schools of Assam which will hopefully be filled after the conclusion of this year’s TET exams.
