Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday urged the state government employees to spend quality time with their family members on January 6 and 7 under Matri Pitri Vandana designated as “special holidays". The state government had approved the decision to allow special leave for its employees so that they can spend quality time with their parents or in-laws. Norms for Special Two days CL or Leave
The norms include, the employees having to write an application to their reporting head to avail the leave on January 6 and January 7. After taking the leaves, they will have to submit the photograph of them spending time with their parents or elderly guardians. A web portal namely Matri Pitri Vandana already been opened with the link visitparents.assamgovcalendars.in where they have to submit the photographs. If an employee fails to submit photos, these two days will be considered casual leaves from their designated leaves.

"While 8th January is a second Saturday and 9th January is a Sunday. The Government has approved two days of headquarters leave for all on January 6th and 7th.
Who Can Avail Assam Govt Special Leave?
* The leave is for all, from the Ministers to the Grade IV employees. However, the leave is only for those whose parents or parents-in-law are alive and who are willing to visit them.
* All the State Govt. employees who are engaged in essential services like Police, Fire & Emergency Services, Disaster Management, Health & Family Welfare etc. are eligible to avail the 2 days causal leave in a phased manner

“I request them to rededicate themselves to the cause of building a new Assam and new India with blessings of their parents," he added.
